Hello, Gaia Calls Me Jolly Tulip But You Can Call Me Rik

Just a middle-aged dude who embodies the spirit of family first, nonconformity, and the value of life experiences.  I have a passion for the great outdoors, prioritizing the commodity of time above all else, embracing every moment with enthusiasm.  The beauty of life is found in the laughter of loved ones and the thrill of new adventures.

My Story

Born and raised in Texas, I eventually headed west for college and never quite made it back — turns out I like mountains and beaches too much.  These days I’m a husband, dad, and friend… and a full-time life coach to my kids (whether they asked for one or not).  I’ve served in the military, worked for the federal government, and now do my part for the state — but my true passions exist outside four walls and a roof.

When I’m not posing as a dedicated professional, you’ll usually find me outdoors:  hiking mountain trails, camping under desert stars, or cooling off in a lake or river. I keep my sanity (and fitness) through running, rucking, and yoga.  I love skiing — snow or water, doesn’t matter.  Add in a few good beers and some barbecue, and that’s pretty much my idea of balance.

I’m drawn to travel, food, culture, and big ideas — history, philosophy, the stars, and anything that makes me rethink what “a good life” really means.  These days, I’m focused on simplicity:  time with my family, a campfire with s’mores, and a life that feels more like an adventure than a routine.
